Churches

the best way for your Church ministry to mobilize for May 2020

Your local Church is central to Go2020 and God’s “Plan A” for reaching your community, nation and the world. Plan the best way for your ministry to join believers everywhere in this catalytic effort of sharing the life-changing message of the Gospel together in the month of May.

The Approach

Imagine ONE

One Church, sharing one message, to one world, in one month: May 2020

One Church – Accelerating our efforts together (across denominational and organizational lines), will fuel unity and visibility. (1 Peter 2:9).

One Message - The Gospel is central to all our efforts and the one common message we proclaim.  With the simple steps of prayer, care, and share, everyone, everywhere can effectively share the Gospel with a least one friend. (Romans 1:16)

One World - Christians from 193 nations are doing their part, right where they are, so every nation, tribe and tongue will soon hear the Gospel. (Matthew 24:14)

One Month - Everyone increasing their focus during a set time challenges every believer to take the step of obedience and be a witness.  Together we can show the world the love of God in Jesus Christ.  (John 17)

Everyone can reach someone

PRAYER - Everyone can pray for someone: Who is someone in your workplace, school, neighborhood, in your family? Start with a prayer list of My 5.

CARE - Everyone can show someone they care:  It is simply taking action loving your neighbor. Who is someone you could help or invite to coffee, an event, or church? Be alert to ways you can care and take action.

SHARE - Everyone can share with someone - Every Believer a Witness!

Who is someone you would like to share Jesus with? Be intentional in starting a Gospel Conversation. Resources and training are available on go2020usa.com

PRAYER: Now

Leaders pray for the vision, your personal involvement and the strategy for your ministry.

 >VISION - Pray for an unprecedented movement of the Church embracing an evangelistic lifestyle and the challenge to share the Gospel with at least one person in May 2020.

 >PERSONAL - Ask God to show you 5 or more people who are close to you, but far from Him.  Prayer Triplets are a great way to have accountability and increase prayer for “My 5”.

 >STRATEGY - How can Go2020 integrate and excel our ministry and outreach goals for 2020.

Consider one or more of these methods for your church:

DAILY PRAYER - Set your phone alarm for 7:14 (am or pm) each day, or a time that works best for you. This represents 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Pray your list of 5 people, for laborers, your personal witness, and the world to know Jesus.

PRAYER TRIPLETS – A Prayer Triplet is a group of three Christians committed to praying together regularly for the salvation of others, spiritual renewal, and God’s Kingdom locally and globally. See GO2020USA.com for more information.

CANOPIES OF PRAYER – Churches: organize a city or state network with a canopy of prayer over their community, the nation, and the world by adopting a day to pray around the clock. See americaprays.org

PRAYER EVENTS – Small groups, churches, and communities: organize a time of corporate prayer for reaching the community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. See nationaldayofprayer.org

What to Pray For:

  • PRAY for LABORERS (Matthew 9:37-38)

  • PRAY for the LOST (Romans 10:1)

  • PRAY for this to become a LIFESTYLE (Romans 1:16)

  • PRAY for God’s redeeming LOVE to the nations (Matthew 24:14)

PREPARE: Now – February 2020

PRAYER-CARE-SHARE strategy of MAKING DISCIPLES

PRAYER

Think of 5 or more friends, neighbors, relatives, or people you meet regularly at school or work, who need to know Jesus. Begin to pray for them regularly. Join with others to pray for the people on each of your lists.

CARE

Ask God to help you develop friendships with them. Evangelism is often done best when it is based on relationships. God has given you a circle of contacts – reach out to them where they are, and be the love of God to them. Invite them for a meal, or join them in something they enjoy doing. They may not know any other Christian besides you.

SHARE

As God leads, seek opportunities to share your faith. You can be a link between them and God.  Simply share what Jesus means to you or invite them to your church or an outreach event in your community. Give them an opportunity to say Yes to Jesus.

DISCIPLE

Keep praying and being a friend. Help nurture their faith, invite them to church or a Bible study, and pray with them. Remember that, when someone comes to faith in Jesus, it is the beginning of a journey. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower them to live out their new life in Christ.

Teaching the habits of prayer, care, share can be done through the weekend sermons, classrooms, small groups and digital communications. Resources are available on the website: Go2020USA.com

  • Challenge everyone to pray for 5, “My 5” (download and customize)

  • Optional: Sermon(s) on Prayer, Care, and Share (outlines available online)

  • Suggested: Teaching in ministry groups (adults, children, students, small groups)
